Robert Pattinson became an actor after his father`s spicy advice
The actor has won legions of female fans after portraying vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight film franchise. He can`t get used to being recognised wherever he goes, not least because acting wasn?t something he dreamt of doing when he was younger.
It was his father Richard who gave him the idea, and he has never looked back. "I never really did much acting back then," Robert said, referring to his early school days. "But one day my dad and I were in a restaurant and he saw this bunch of pretty girls and he asked them where they had been. They said that they went to this drama club, so he said we?d better go down to this drama club, too."
Before then, Robert always wanted to be a musician. He still harbours the ambition, and has hinted he will release an album in the next few years.
The 23-year-old loves singing and playing music for people, and used to think he was destined to perform on the piano for the rest of his life. "I wanted to play piano in restaurants in the south of France. I went there on holiday once and I saw this guy playing in an old tuxedo. He was all dishevelled, with a whisky glass on the piano. I thought that was the coolest thing," he told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. "So what?s happened to me with Twilight isn`t really what I`d planned. I suppose I could`ve been typecast after the films. The good thing is that the economy is so bad, I can go, `I don`t care if you think I?m right for it, I can get your movie made!` No, seriously, I`ve never said that in a meeting."
